After
the sun sets at Arafah you can observe there is an intelligence of release and delight
on everyone’s faces. People leave around hugging every other or if they are
blokey blokes the high-quality old handclasp and then link of hands followed by
the pressing of chests and a pat on the back.
The
next thing on everybody’s minds is are we actually going to be sleeping on the
floor in Muzdalifah? No, gravely are we? But the tents here in Arafah even although
they don’t have atmosphere con and we are getting eaten living by mosquitoes
are pleasant, can’t we just continue here?
Muzdalifah
comes from the three arabic letters zul, la and fah which indicates “to come
closer to something”. The next day we come closer to Allah’s house as we visit
the grand mosque in Makkah. Amazing! Also, as mentioned before Arafah is
outside the Har’am (holy boundary of Makkah) whilst Muzdalifah is within. The cause
that we are taken exterior this border is that the Almighty wants us to be in
the purest of state when reentering as we will have been forgiven all of our earlier
sins. Amazing!
This
is Hajj. This is the trip of a life!
