Raising Muslim Children in Non-Muslim Society

The civilization shapes the characters of the citizens live in it. Children specially were molded by the society’s principles and beliefs in a massive way. To raise your kids according to the teachings of Islam in a non-Muslim culture is surely an uphill task which requires the hard work and collaboration of everybody from the parents to the mosque to the entire Islamic group of people. The roles of these divide parts are definitely not poles apart, they have to balance one another in order to protect children from the threats they may encounter living in a society with social values, traditions and moral standards vary comparatively or radically with what Islam teaches in the initial place.


 The position of the Parents and Family:

The family, most particularly the father and the mother play a crucial role in the formation of children’s character. We gather what we saw and the parents are the ones accountable for upbringing their kids. As children grow up in a non-Islamic culture, many aspects pertaining child’s education require special notice from the parents as the path to go after is not a usual path for kids. Clearly, there are some things parents cannot control; they cannot manage how their kids connect with  the surrounding society; also they cannot prevent them from socializing and interacting with the member of their culture. Though, they must lay a solid base for their kids to give them the skill to oppose external temptations and to stick to the main beliefs and the values of Islam no substance what challenges they might have.

The Holy Quran and the Sunna:

To keep the Islamic identity in non- Islamic society, the parents should lift their children, according to the teachings of the holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They must give confidence their children to understand writing the Quran continually from an early age. It is also advisable to attend regular Quran memorization classes in the nearest mosque. This in turn will allow the kids to get in touch with the Islamic community. As well, children must study the teachings of the prophet (PBUH) parallel with what they study at school in order to create a balance and to guarantee akin learning approach that will help kids put up with by their Islamic character.

Tawaf of Kaaba

Tawaf means circling around something. Here it means moving around Kaaba seven times. Preparation: Pass the upper sheet of Ihram from underneath the right arm and put it on the left shoulder. This act bares the right shoulder and is known as Iztaba. Ablutions (vudu) is essential for tawaf. Reciting of Talbiyah is stopped when you reach Hajar-e- Aswad, the starting point of tawaf. Niyyah (Intention): Stand in front of Kaabah facing Hajar-e-Aswad (the Black Stone) in such a way that the whole Hajre-e-Aswad is on your right side. To achieve this end, you may get help from the black stripe on the floor. This stripe should be on your right side. Then without raising your hands make Niyyah (intention) for Tawaf Umrah: " O Allah, I perform Tawaf of Masjide Haram to please You. Make it easy for me and accept it from me."

Manasik Umrah

  The Umrah starts with wearing Ihram and making the Niyyah for Umrah at the time of crossing the prescribed Miqat point. The Ihram for gents are simple two-piece unstitched garment. During the Manasik Umrah, a person can change Ihram many times, but it is mandatory for them to remain in it till the time the Umrah is completed. The Ihram for women is the full dress that they wear daily. But a particular dress must be separated and classified as her Ihram. Anas bin Maalik (RA) said, “The pilgrims and those who perform Umrah are the delegations of Allah. He will give them whatever they ask for, answer their supplications and He will give them better than what they spend.
