Women have managed to break through the glass
ceiling irrespective of how religion had been used to control women. Women in
the Muslim world now have careers and can drive around to their desired
destinations. The cynicism, rapes, catcalling, acid attacks, or a gun wounds
couldn’t stop women to make it in the international arena, Malala represented
women in the United Nations apart from all the conspiracy theories, Benazir
Bhutto still stood up and men had to gun her down to shut her voice.
The biggest part of this battle revolves
around the way women dress, of offices women have to cover up, whether it is a
coordinator at the airport or an office job, because somehow dress code can
decide whether a woman’s character is good or bad. So this is a drawback for
the success of this gender.
Commuting is another issue in the Muslim
world, the finest of its example is women not allowed to drive around in Saudia
Arabia or women who do drive around are subject to dangers. Such as there was
one trend in Pakistan, where women who drove around would be cornered and
abducted for an assault, all such behaviors a hindrance to the progression of
this gender.
Women still have managed to secure better
positions, women are now teachers, principals, professors, CEOs, pilots,
soldiers, nurses, doctors and politicians, for example Dr. Nahed Taher The CEO
of Gulf One Investment bank in Saudia Arabia, Shermeen Obaid Chinoy the first
Pakistani woman to win an Oscar for her documentary ‘Saving Face’ are amongst
many other leading Muslim women.
The
main reason for any woman to succeed is supported. To climb up the ladder the
women need the support of the family. In the Muslim culture, it is mandatory
for the women to get married at a very young age. But women who dodge the
loopholes bravely and face criticism as a result, but still manage to stand on
their ground have been seen to become successful.
Of
course women who want to be successful have to have a plan and entrepreneurship
has also played its part. Where women start their own businesses either online
or regular businesses, the know-how also counts as a main factor contributing
toward a female generated business. As without the knowledge of the market it
is impossible to move along.
Though
marriage is a mandatory life decision that women are bound to make it hasn't
stopped women from conquering their dreams. There have been married women who
not only are successful leaders outside of their homes but have also become
successful wives and parents.
Divorce
is a frowned upon occurrences in Muslim societies but that doesn't stop divorce
from happening. In the Muslim world women suffer more as widows and but still
women face even such challenges without any fear of what the society would say
and such women truly have conquered the success ladder.
